How do I satisfy the 8-hour DEA MATE training requirement with Orbit CME?

Following the 2021 MATE Act, all healthcare providers with a DEA license are now required to attest to 8 hours of instruction in the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders during their next DEA license renewal. This is a one time requirement due at your next DEA license renewal.

Orbit CME makes it straightforward to earn the one-time 8-credit DEA requirement by reviewing abstracts and articles related to controlled substances on your browser or iOS device.

Here's how:

1. Sign up for any Orbit plan.

Sign up for one of the DEA plans, or sign up for any Orbit CME plan that relates to your specialty.

  • If you signed up with another Orbit CME plan, click on the license selector.

  • Click on DEA License Renewal. Click Save.

  • Set your DEA renewal date.

2. Read any eligible abstract or article related to the treatment of opioid or other substance abuse disorders.

If you’re reading through your Orbit Dashboard

First, check if your license on the Dashboard says DEA License Renewal.
