How much breast credit do I need?
Under MQSA policy, which the FDA enforces with help from the ACR and other groups, you need:
15 category I credits in mammography during the past 36 months (3 years)
At least 6 category I credits in each mammographic modality you use as an interpreting physician
Which modalities count?
Ultrasound and MRI breast imaging don't count toward MQSA. They are not mammographic modalities.
Make sure at least 6 credits (12 articles) cover each mammographic modality in your practice:
Film mammography
Digital mammography
Tomosynthesis
For example, if your practice includes tomosynthesis, earn at least 6 credits in tomosynthesis as part of your 15.
When does the 3-year window start?
The interval is counted from the day of your annual MQSA inspection or the immediately preceding quarter.
The simplest way to stay compliant: finish your 15 mammography credits now, then repeat them 3 years from now.
Can auditors see which articles I used?
Yes. Your Audit Report lists the articles you claimed for credit. Make sure those articles reflect the required mix of modalities.
