My fluoroscopy license expired. Can I renew it?
Even if your fluoro license is expired, painless renewal is possible
You suddenly need to renew your California fluoroscopy license, but you found out from the RHB website that your license has already expired. How do you get your fluoro license renewed? The official name for the California fluoroscopy license is the X-Ray Supervisor and Operator Certificate, but fluoro license is easier to type. We've gotten this question a few times from panicked physicians in California, so we put the question to the RHB and here's what we found out.
How do I know if my expired fluoro licenses can be renewed?
Expired fluoro licenses can be renewed, mostly. If your license expired less than 5.5 years ago, you can go ahead and renew. If your license expired more than 5.5 years ago, then you'll want to contact the RHB directly for guidance. Email us if we can help make the connection.
How do I renew my expired fluoro license?
If your fluoro license expired less than 5.5 years ago, you'll use the standard fluoro license renewal form, and pay a fee that corresponds to the length of time your fluoro license has been expired - you'll pay more for a license that expired further in the past.
Where do I get the fluoro license renewal form?
Normally this arrives in the mail from the RHB at the address they have on file from you. But if you're trying to renew an expired fluoro license, chances are that you don't know where your fluoro license renewal form is. Don't worry, our team has your back! Email support@orbitcme.com and request a fluoro license renewal form.
Do I need to earn CME for my California fluoro license renewal?
Yes, just like with a regular fluoro license renewal, you'll need 4 credits in radiation safety, and 6 credits in fluoroscopy more generally. If you're a physician, these credits should be AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, which the certificate topic specifically related to radiation safety and fluoroscopy.
Where can I find CME that works for my fluoro license renewal?
We're probably biased 😁, but we designed Orbit Fluoroscopy to be the most streamlined activity for fluoro license renewal anywhere. Our founding team includes physicians who have practiced in California for years with active fluoroscopy licenses. The Fluoro Micro plan is the one you should select if you're just interested in finishing your renewal.
Later, if you're blown away by your experience with Orbit, we recommend upgrading to Basic or Pro for better pricing per credit, so you can finish your CA Medical Board requirements and your specialty board credit requirements as well.
Bottom line
Drop us an email if we can help you finish the renewal and get back to helping your patients.
