wRVU Calculator for Radiologists

Use this free wRVU calculator to estimate your expected revenue as a radiologist. Built with 2026 CMS Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) data, the calculator lets you select from over 200 radiology procedure codes, customize your compensation rate, and see real-time wRVU totals and revenue projections.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Set your compensation rate — Enter your dollar-per-wRVU rate in Global Settings. The national median for diagnostic radiologists is approximately $50 per wRVU.
  2. Browse or search exams — Filter by modality (CT, MRI, US, XR, NM, IR, Mammo, Fluoro) or search by CPT code, exam name, or keyword.
  3. Add studies to your list — Click any exam to add it to your “My Exams” panel. Adjust the volume for each study type.
  4. Review your revenue estimate — The calculator instantly totals your wRVUs and multiplies by your rate to show expected revenue.

Understanding Work Relative Value Units (wRVUs)

Work Relative Value Units (wRVUs) are a standardized measure created by CMS to quantify the physician work involved in medical procedures. For radiologists, wRVUs reflect the complexity, time, technical skill, and mental effort required to interpret imaging studies. They are the primary component used to determine physician compensation in hospital-employed and academic radiology practices.

Each CPT code is assigned a wRVU value in the CMS Physician Fee Schedule. Higher-complexity studies like MRI brain with contrast carry more wRVUs than routine exams like a two-view chest X-ray. By tracking the volume and mix of studies you read, you can project your total wRVU production and expected compensation.

About the Data

This calculator uses wRVU values from the 2026 CMS Physician Fee Schedule (PFS), the most current data available. The procedure codes and wRVU values are sourced directly from CMS and cover the most commonly performed diagnostic and interventional radiology exams.
