Who needs a fluoroscopy license?

If you perform fluoroscopy or mammography you need obtain and renew a fluoroscopy license every 2 years. This includes both radiologists and non-radiologists who use this equipment.

What are the requirements for renewal?

You will need CME related to fluoroscopy (application of x-rays to the human body) and radiation safety in fluoroscopy. Here’s a summary of requirements from the official RHB guidelines:

  • Earn 10 credits related to fluoroscopy over the two year period counting back from your expiration date.
  • Ensure that 4 of those 10 credits relate to radiation safety for the clinical uses of fluoroscopy.

How do I renew my license?

To renew your license you need to fill out your renewal application form and mail it in with the renewal notice and a check for the amount due on the renewal notice. How do I get my renewal forms?

The RHB (Radiologic Health Board) of California mails your fluoroscopy license renewal form to you 3 months before the expiration of your permit. If you haven't received yours in the mail, email us at support@orbitcme.com. Check the physical mailing address you registered with the RHB—if you don't remember, this might be your business address or home address at the time of your last renewal. You should register your new mailing address with the RHB if you've moved since the last time you completed fluoroscopy license renewal.
